Loretta

Some more good harmony. Norah Jones, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings perform the Townes Van Zandt song "Loretta".

Here is a second version of the same song that does not really have much harmony, but it does have some great singers—John Prine, Lyle Lovett, Ray LaMontagne and Elvis Costello.

Ponies

Most of my posts recently have been focused on a single artist or group, but I am going to try to start doing more posts based on a theme. Today songs about ponies.

First, Kasey Chamber's song "Pony".

Here is Lyle Lovett with "If I had a Pony".

This performance, of the Bill Monroe classic "Molly and Tenbrooks", is by a combination of two groups, Bearfoot and 49 Special. I don't know anything about 49 Special, but I did see Bearfoot perform at the Kennedy Center a while back.

Lyle Lovett

I am going to do a couple posts on musicians who have recently released albums that I am listening to. Last October Lyle Lovett released the album Natural Forces. He is "Pantry" from that album.

Here Lovett performs the title track from the album with some help from John Hiatt.

From Joshua Judges Ruth in 1992, here is "Church".
