Video Killed The Radio Star

Here is the Buggles' video for "Video Killed The Radio Star", the very first video played on MTV 35 years ago today—August 1, 1981. For better or worse, MTV was a lot of fun in the beginning.

Doing the Alison Moyet post made me a bit nostalgic for music from the early 80's, which I don't really listen to much anymore. In the process I did find two great videos by the Buggles. The Buggles as a group did not last very long, but the lead singer, Trevor Howard, and the keyboard player, Geoff Downes were performing with Yes when I saw them sometime in the early 80's

These videos are from a 2004 concert for the Prince's Trust, and may be one of the few times these songs were performed live. Both songs are off the album The Age of Plastic released in 1980. "Video Killed the Radio Star" was the very first video broadcast on MTV when it when on air, August 1, 1981.
