The leaves are long past starting to fall, but better late than never. Eva Cassidy performing "Autumn Leaves" at Blues Alley.

Fields of Gold

Sting's "Fields of Gold" is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Here are two versions, one by 2CELLOS and one by Eva Cassidy. In an ideal world you would be able to hear them performing this together.

The Dark End of the Street

The last song on my last post was Marti Jones and Don Dixon's performance of The Dark End of the Street. This is such a great song that I have decided to do an entire post with covers of it.

Written in 1966 by Dan Penn and Chips Moman, this is the first recording, which was done by James Carr.

Eva Cassidy

I have previously posted one Eva Cassidy song—"Autumn Leaves"—in my Fall post last year. Today I am going to post three more of her videos. All of these videos are from one or two concerts at Blues Alley. As far as I know these are the only live video recording made before she died in 1996.
"What a Wonderful World"

"Cheek to Cheek"
"Somewhere Over the Rainbow" - Coincidently this song is also on Jeff Beck's new album that I did a post on earlier this week. I did not include this song in that post, or I could have had this song posted twice in one week.

Fall

A chill is in the air and the leaves are starting to turn, so I have decided to post a couple fall songs.

First, Cheryl Wheeler performing her song "When Fall Comes to New England".

Eva Cassidy performing "Autumn Leaves". The words for this song were written by Jacques Prévert, who also wrote the script for my favorite movie, The Children of Paradise.

Finally—because I have not posted any classical music yet—here it a video with "Autumn" from Vivaldi's "Four Seasons".
