The Cuckoo
This is one of the most amazing performances I have ever seen. From last Friday's Smithsonian concert honoring Ralph Rinzler and Pete Seeger, this is American banjo player and singer Abigail Washburn as well as the Dimen Dong Folk Chorus of Guizhou province in southwest China. They are performing the English\Appalachian song Cuckoo, and a Chinese song of the same name. Washburn arranged the songs so they could be performed together. Washburn might be the only person who could have accomplished this. She has studied Chinese and before she began recording banjo albums, she intended to study law in China. I am so glad someone captured this on video.
