Call Me When You Get To Heaven

I don't know if this is a gospel song, but a great combination all the same. The Mavericks and the McCrary Sisters performing "Call Me When You Get To Heaven".

Pretty Paper

"Pretty Paper" is a Willie Nelson song that I have heard for years, but never really stopped to listen to what it was about. This recent post on Willie's site identifying the man it was written about, prompted me to see if I could pick out my favorite version of the song. Chris Isaak has a good version, but I think my favorite is this one performed by Raul Malo.

Stephen Foster

Following up on yesterday's post of Harmony Lane, the film about Stephen Foster, here is a straight up post about him. I have a previous post with several versions of what is probably his most performed song today, "Hard Times".

Here are a couple more interpretations of songs he wrote 150 years ago.

"Oh, Susanna" - Ruthie Foster

"Gentle Annie" - UCLA University Chorus

"Beautiful Dreamer" - Raul Malo, just audio.

Raul Malo

A couple videos from one of my favorite singers, Raul Malo, who was also the lead singer for The Mavericks.

"Every Little Thing About You"

"Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground", a song written by Willie Nelson

The Mavericks perform "Tonight the Bottle Let Me Down", a song written by Merle Haggard
